Investments in the UAE's space industry have exceeded $10.9 billion due to the country's plans to actively participate in missions on the Moon, Mars and the asteroid belt.
This was stated by Crown Prince of Dubai Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum during the first meeting of the Supreme Space Council, where the main achievements of the national space industry over the past few years were reviewed.
At the meeting, Sheikh Hamdan said that in recent years, research and development spending in the space sector has increased by 14.8% compared to 2023. At the same time, the number of companies working in the space sector has increased by almost 30%.
It should be noted that the UAE became the first country in the world to launch a project to explore the asteroid belt, and the first in the MENA region to initiate a mission to explore the moon.
During the meeting, Sheikh Hamdan was informed about future space programs. Among them are the launch of Space 42, Thuraya 4 satellite and MBZ-SAT.
